Welcome

My name is Amela and I’m so glad you’ve found me. I like to call myself a mental health advocate; with that title I have decades of experience in peer support advocacy.

Besides writing a blog, I also have an instagram @_byAmela, along with a mindfulness forum, make videos, discuss Jungian mysticism & psychoanalysis in every day life. In the future I aspire to offer a support group. For ‘mental wellness’ workshops or presentations e-mail me at ConnectwithAmela@aol.com 💗.

About this Website

My first blog was more of a virtual journal where I had shared my journey of marriage, motherhood and college. My current blog, is not about my personal life, rather, it is based on humanistic principles combined with the essence of style Jungian art & mysticism. My videos are ‘Mental Illness Basics’ offered an informative peer centered approach on the facts to understand one’s own mental wellbeing.
Over the course of creating my first blog there have been many changes. One of the biggest changes is that both of my blogs have inspired the self care movement. While many still believe that self care is about one hundred dollar nails and a million dollar vacation it’s actually not these things. Sure, these privileges can help motivate one’s self esteem. Ultimately, a person can not predict a mental health crisis. It is inevitable and as my mother once said many years ago at the tender age of fourteen “you can’t buy mental health, it’s the most expensive. If you have good mental health that’s the greatest wealth. There is no greater wealth than mental health.” When I was struggling with disabling depression and suicidal ideation, I kept crying about how things just kept feeling like they were getting worse. That is when she had told me on our car ride grocery shopping “It’s okay not to be okay.”

Although my blogs have not made me a trillionaire, that is not the purpose of my blog. The purpose is to help encourage the peers who are just like me to find hope, meaning or understanding that there is more to life than ending it. And my message is clear: I am sharing this with you because I love you like the young woman I wish I could have loved. And I want you to know that tomorrow, things will get better, even if that tomorrow is in five years. Life is not a competition. Life is about freewill and living for tomorrow ‘Carpe Diem’. Never really felt that movement or Pura Vida, because life is messy and I want to keep it real with my readers.
Please know that you are not alone, my blog should not substitute professional help. And if you are in a mental health crisis where you need support right now, you can always call the National Crisis Hotline at 9-8-8 for free.

And yes, the mental health system is still broken but together we can make it better. If you have any questions, want to connect, or just want to share your journey with me be at ease to schedule an appointment with me on calendly.

I have a blog:

Since these years, I have become a devote advocate of mental health. Ask me how you can get a career in peer support. How to create a wellness recovery action plan, justice peer health, a special event at a psychosocial or mutual support clubhouse or when’s the next Narcotics Anonymous meeting. Tell me about it, schedule it at calendly.com/

Remember that regardless of your mental health being a crisis or being someone who lives with a psychiatric illness: mental health is health. Recovery is always possible. If you slip or relapse, recovery maintains.

Sincerely your advocate in wellness,

Amela
